Meet Roberta
Roberta Nicolls is the Business Development Manager at Fleet man Solutions and the founder of Butterfly Effect GY. Based in Georgetown, Guyana, she has built a career across hospitality, event management, distribution, and fleet technology while remaining deeply committed to creativity, faith, and people centered leadership.
Where Purpose Found Its Own Path
Some careers begin with a carefully written plan. Others are shaped through unexpected turns, quiet resilience, and the courage to embrace change. Roberta Nicolls belongs to the second story.
Looking back, she never imagined that her journey would span hospitality, logistics, business development, creative healing, and technology. Yet every chapter prepared her for the next. Rather than chasing titles, she focused on becoming someone people could trust. Her story is not defined by industries but by the values she carried into each one.
She believes leadership begins long before someone receives a management title. It begins with how people are treated, how relationships are built, and how integrity is protected when no one is watching.

Building a Career One Relationship at a Time
As a young woman, Roberta dreamed of becoming an art teacher. Life, however, introduced different opportunities. She entered hospitality and event management, a field where she would spend more than twenty years creating memorable experiences for others.
Hospitality became more than a profession. It taught her how to listen carefully, solve problems calmly, and understand that every interaction leaves a lasting impression. Those years shaped her ability to connect with people from different backgrounds while balancing creativity with practical execution.
Even as new opportunities appeared, hospitality never disappeared from her identity. It remained the thread connecting every stage of her professional life.
Later, she expanded into distribution as a Van Sales Coordinator. It was an entirely different environment that demanded operational thinking and strategic planning. Instead of resisting change, she embraced it, discovering new strengths in logistics and business operations.

That experience eventually introduced her to fleet management and telematics, where she spent the next decade helping organizations manage vehicle assets more efficiently. Throughout those years, she continued designing events and exploring creative projects, refusing to believe that professional growth required abandoning personal passions.
Each career transition strengthened her confidence that reinvention is possible at any stage of life.
When Life Changed Everything
Professional growth was only one part of Roberta’s story. Personal loss would become the experience that reshaped her understanding of resilience.
The deaths of her mother and brother came shortly before she relocated to another country. Grief arrived alongside uncertainty, forcing her to rebuild while carrying emotional pain that few people could see.

Rather than allowing those experiences to define her limits, they deepened her understanding of compassion. They reminded her that every person carries invisible battles, making kindness far more important than appearances.
Another defining decision came years later when she chose to leave a company where she had invested ten years of her life. At fifty one years old, walking away from familiarity was not easy. Yet remaining comfortable no longer aligned with the future she envisioned.
That decision became proof that growth has no expiration date. New opportunities remain available to those willing to trust themselves.
As Roberta reflects,
“My journey wasn’t planned, but it has been purposeful, and I’m proud of how it continues to evolve.”
Finding Strength Through Faith
Success has never insulated Roberta from hardship. She has experienced professional disrespect, personal grief, health challenges, and the pressure that often comes with working in industries traditionally dominated by men.

There were moments when recognition failed to match effort. There were seasons when she questioned why certain challenges appeared despite years of dedication and integrity.
Instead of allowing disappointment to create bitterness, she found strength in faith.
She openly credits God as the constant presence throughout every season of her life. Sometimes, she believes, He removed obstacles entirely. Other times He simply remained beside her while she learned lessons that could not be avoided.
Faith gave her perspective that success is not measured by avoiding hardship but by continuing forward with humility and hope.
Creativity became another source of healing.
Painting offered a language beyond words. Through art she transformed difficult emotions into something meaningful, reconnecting with herself while helping others discover healing through creative expression.
This combination of faith and creativity continues to anchor both her personal life and professional leadership.
Leading People Before Leading Business
Today, Roberta serves as Business Development Manager at Fleet man Solutions, becoming the company’s first person to hold the position. While the achievement represents an important milestone, she views it as another opportunity to lead differently.

For her, business development extends beyond financial growth and client acquisition. It begins with understanding people.
She believes organizations perform better when employees are respected, clients feel genuinely valued, and leaders recognize that professional responsibilities cannot be separated from personal realities.
Her leadership philosophy acknowledges that every employee carries responsibilities, struggles, dreams, and relationships outside the workplace. Ignoring those realities weakens organizations rather than strengthening them.
Alongside her corporate responsibilities, Roberta continues developing Butterfly Effect GY and creative initiatives that combine art, wellness, and community building. Through projects such as Couples Sip and Paint experiences and future cultural collaborations, she hopes to create spaces where creativity encourages healing and authentic connection.
Her work reflects the belief that business success and human wellbeing should strengthen one another instead of competing for attention.
She explains,
“Success is not measured by titles or accolades, but by becoming the best version of myself in a way that truly impacts others’ lives positively.”
Creating a Legacy Beyond Career Success
Although Roberta has achieved measurable business results, portfolio growth, client retention, and leadership recognition, those accomplishments are not what she hopes people remember most.
She wants her name to represent integrity.

She wants people to remember someone who treated others with dignity regardless of position or circumstance.
She hopes her leadership encourages future professionals to value empathy alongside performance and relationships alongside results.
Looking ahead, she plans to continue strengthening Fleet man Solutions while expanding her art based healing initiatives across Guyana. She also envisions creative spaces that celebrate local artists, encourage meaningful conversations, and demonstrate that business, culture, and community can grow together.
Her future is guided less by ambition than by contribution. Every new project becomes another opportunity to create lasting impact through compassion, creativity, and thoughtful leadership.
A Life Defined by Grace and Grit
Roberta Nicolls’ story is ultimately about embracing change without losing oneself.
From hospitality to technology, from personal grief to professional leadership, she has consistently chosen growth over fear and purpose over comfort. Her journey reminds us that careers rarely unfold exactly as expected, but meaningful lives are often built through unexpected opportunities accepted with courage.

She continues to prove that leadership is not simply about guiding organizations. It is about leaving people stronger than you found them, protecting your integrity through every season, and believing that faith, resilience, and kindness remain powerful forces in any industry.
For Roberta, that is the legacy worth building.
