Meet Marnie Benney
Marnie Benney is an internationally certified Mindset Coach, Certified Trauma-Informed Coach, Mental Health First Aider, Mentor, Author and Speaker. She is the founder of Mindset Evolution With Marnie.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, she supports women as they rebuild confidence, strengthen emotional resilience and reconnect with their sense of self after difficult life experiences. Her work combines lived experience, more than two decades of professional experience, including leadership roles, and trauma-informed coaching to help women create lives grounded in self-respect and purpose.
She is also a contributing author to The Rise of the Self-Led Woman, in which her chapter, “Worth Fighting For,” shares part of the personal journey that shaped her work today.
When Strength Becomes a Quiet Burden
There are people whose lives remind us that resilience is not a fixed quality that some people possess and others do not. It can be developed and strengthened, often in moments we never expected to face. For Marnie Benney, resilience was tested and strengthened through loss, uncertainty and the process of learning to trust herself again. Today, she supports women navigating their own journeys, not because she has all the answers, but because she understands what it feels like to begin again.
Her story is not one of perfection. It is a story of returning to herself after years of placing the needs of others before her own. Every conversation she has, every woman she supports, and every lesson she shares is rooted in the belief that healing begins when people remember that their own wellbeing matters too.
Building a Career While Quietly Building Others
Long before she became a coach, Marnie built a successful career in local government. Over more than two decades, she earned a reputation for her professionalism, integrity, and ability to bring clarity to complicated situations. Her work in procurement, governance, contracts, and leadership required precision, responsibility, and thoughtful decision making. She progressed into leadership roles where colleagues trusted her to guide teams through change while maintaining strong ethical standards.
Although she enjoyed solving organisational challenges, she gradually recognised that the most rewarding part of her role had little to do with policies or procedures. What stayed with her were the people. She found meaning in helping others feel supported, understood, and capable during periods of uncertainty.
Looking back, those experiences became an unexpected foundation for the work she would later create. Leadership, she realised, was never simply about managing responsibilities. It was about creating environments where people felt safe enough to grow.
The Life That Changed Everything
Like many women, Marnie had become accustomed to carrying responsibilities without questioning the personal cost. She was dependable, capable, and often the person others relied upon. From the outside, life appeared stable and successful. Internally, however, she had become increasingly disconnected from her own voice, needs, and identity.
The end of a thirty-two-year relationship became one of the defining moments of her life. Alongside the emotional grief came financial uncertainty and the challenge of rebuilding a future that no longer resembled the one she had planned. It was a period marked by difficult decisions, painful reflection, and countless moments of self-doubt.
Instead of allowing those experiences to define her, she slowly began asking deeper questions about the patterns that had shaped her life. Why had she measured her worth through caring for everyone else? Why had her own needs become so easy to ignore? Those questions became the beginning of a very different chapter.
As she immersed herself in learning about mindset, emotional resilience, trauma-informed practice, and nervous system regulation, she discovered that healing was not about becoming someone new. It was about reconnecting with herself after gradually losing touch with her needs, voice and identity.
Reflecting on that journey, she says,
“I learned that resilience is not simply enduring what happens to us. It is finding the courage to heal, make new choices and decide that the past does not define the rest of our story.”
That insight became far more than a personal lesson. It became the philosophy that would eventually shape every aspect of her work.
Unlike dramatic stories that focus on one life-changing breakthrough, Marnie’s transformation happened through countless small decisions. She chose to seek support. She invested in education. She challenged limiting beliefs. She strengthened boundaries that had once felt impossible to establish. Most importantly, she learned that confidence is built through consistent action rather than perfect certainty.
Each step strengthened her understanding that adversity does not have to become someone’s identity. Difficult experiences can become places where compassion, wisdom, and purpose quietly begin to grow.
Those lessons eventually inspired the creation of Mindset Evolution With Marnie, a space where women could receive the kind of compassionate guidance she herself had once needed. Her lived experience, combined with professional qualifications, allowed her to create an approach that felt practical, ethical, and deeply human rather than idealistic.
For Marnie, rebuilding her own life was never the final destination. It became the beginning of helping others rebuild theirs.
Creating Space for Women to Return to Themselves
The experiences that reshaped Marnie’s life eventually became the foundation of a new purpose. Marnie did not originally set out to build a coaching business. As her own healing and professional development unfolded, she felt increasingly drawn to creating a place where women could find the understanding, encouragement and practical guidance she had once searched for herself. That vision became Mindset Evolution With Marnie.
Today, she works as a mindset and resilience coach, mentor, author, and speaker, supporting women who have spent years putting everyone else’s needs before their own. The women Marnie is passionate about supporting may have built successful careers, raised families, cared for loved ones or dedicated themselves to serving others. Yet somewhere along the way, they may have become disconnected from who they are beyond those responsibilities.
Her coaching is not about encouraging women to become different people. Instead, it focuses on helping them reconnect with the confidence, self-trust, and inner strength that have always been present beneath years of self-doubt and emotional exhaustion. Through compassionate conversations, practical tools, and trauma-informed coaching practices, she creates an environment where women feel safe enough to reconnect with themselves without fear of judgment.
Central to her work is Lead Your Life: The ELEVATE Method™, a compassionate, step-by-step framework shaped by her lived experience and professional training. Through Explore Your Story, Love Yourself Again, Empower Yourself, Value Your Progress, and Achieve, Transform & Elevate, the method supports women to understand their patterns without shame, reconnect with their worth, rebuild self-trust, strengthen their boundaries and take meaningful steps towards a calmer, more self-led life.
Through Mindset Evolution With Marnie, Marnie currently offers one-to-one coaching and mentoring through individual sessions and five- and ten-session pathways. Her growing suite of services also includes live online events, and will expand to include workshops, educational content and practical personal-development resources, while Lead Your Life: The ELEVATE Method™ is being developed as a group coaching program.
Her free live Zoom event, Become The Leader Of Your Own Life, introduces women to practical ways of recognising over-giving patterns, rebuilding self-trust, strengthening boundaries and reconnecting with their own needs and voice.
Her approach is grounded in empathy because she understands that meaningful transformation rarely happens overnight. It develops through patience, consistency, and the willingness to choose yourself again and again, even when it feels uncomfortable.
One belief continues to guide every aspect of her work. As she explains,
“My role is not to tell women who they should become. It is to help them reconnect with themselves, recognise their own wisdom and feel empowered to create meaningful and sustainable change”
Those words capture the heart of everything she does. Her role is not to provide all the answers. It is to help women rebuild the confidence to trust their own voice and inner wisdom.
Leading With Compassion Instead of Perfection
Leadership means different things to different people. For Marnie, it has never been connected to titles, recognition, or authority. She believes leadership begins with authenticity and the courage to create spaces where people feel genuinely seen and heard.
Throughout both her local-government career and her coaching work, she has remained committed to leading with integrity. She understands that people are not looking for perfect role models. They are looking for someone who listens without judgment, honours professional boundaries, and creates an environment where growth feels possible rather than intimidating.
This perspective has shaped the way she mentors women who are rebuilding confidence after significant life changes. She encourages them to celebrate progress instead of perfection, recognising that lasting change often comes through small, consistent actions rather than dramatic breakthroughs.
Her own journey reminds her that healing is rarely linear. There are moments of confidence alongside moments of uncertainty. There are days when progress feels obvious and others when it feels almost invisible. Accepting that reality has made her a more compassionate coach and a more authentic leader.
A Vision That Continues to Grow
Looking ahead, Marnie’s ambitions remain closely connected to the values that inspired her work from the beginning. She hopes to expand Mindset Evolution With Marnie into a trusted platform where more women can access practical and compassionate support regardless of where they are in their personal journey.
She plans to continue developing Lead Your Life: The ELEVATE Method™ through coaching programs, workshops, online learning opportunities, and educational resources that make emotional resilience and personal growth easier to understand. She also hopes to continue writing and speaking, sharing ideas that help people view healing, confidence, and self-worth through a more compassionate lens.
One of her long-term aspirations is to create opportunities for women who might not otherwise have access to coaching and personal-development support. By offering accessible resources and community-based initiatives, she hopes to ensure that personal growth is available to more people, regardless of their circumstances.
For Marnie, success has never been measured only by professional milestones. It is reflected in quieter moments that often go unseen. It is found when someone begins trusting herself again, speaks honestly for the first time in years, or realises that she deserves the same kindness she so freely offers everyone else.
The Quiet Courage to Begin Again
Marnie Benney’s story is not defined by the challenges she has faced but by the choices she made after those challenges changed her life. She continued choosing healing, growth and a new direction, even while fear and uncertainty were still present. Most importantly, she chose to transform her own experiences into a source of hope for other women searching for their way forward.
Her work is a reminder that resilience is rarely loud. More often, it appears in ordinary moments when someone decides to take one more step, trust herself a little more, or believe that a different future is possible. Through compassion, authenticity, and lived understanding, she continues to show women that rebuilding a life does not begin with becoming someone else. It begins with coming home to themselves.
