Meet Vasheti
Vasheti Quiros is the founder and CEO of Well Balanced CEO, where she helps nonprofit leaders build financially sustainable organizations without sacrificing their well-being. Drawing on more than two decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, operations, and executive coaching, she helps leaders strengthen their organizations while building healthier, more sustainable lives.
Redefining What It Means to Lead
Some careers are built through carefully planned milestones. Others are shaped by moments that completely change the way a person sees the world. For Vasheti Quiros, leadership has never been defined by titles or achievements alone. It has been shaped by compassion, resilience, and an unwavering belief that the people dedicating their lives to serving others deserve the same care they so freely give.
Her work today reflects that belief. Every conversation she has with a nonprofit leader, every strategy she develops, and every coaching session she leads is rooted in one simple idea. Organizations thrive when the people leading them are supported, healthy, and able to sustain both their mission and themselves.
That perspective did not emerge overnight. It grew through years of professional experience, personal hardship, and the courage to redefine success on her own terms.
Where Service First Became a Calling
Vasheti’s professional journey began in an unexpected place. Working at Walt Disney World introduced her to the importance of thoughtful systems, memorable experiences, and genuine human connection. While many remember Disney for its entertainment, she remembers it as a place that taught her how intentional leadership shapes every interaction.
Those early lessons stayed with her as she entered the nonprofit sector, where she would spend more than twenty years serving in executive leadership, finance, operations, and fundraising roles. She quickly recognized that many organizations were filled with passionate people committed to changing lives. Yet passion alone was rarely enough to guarantee long-term success.
She found herself drawn to solving problems that many overlooked. Sustainable funding, strategic planning, operational excellence, and healthy leadership became the foundation of her work. Over the years she helped organizations raise more than $4.18 million, expand operating budgets, secure transformational grants, and strengthen their long-term stability.
While these accomplishments mattered, they were never the reason she stayed committed. The real reward came from seeing communities benefit when organizations gained the stability they needed to serve more people.
The Moment That Changed Everything
In 2018, life interrupted everything she thought she understood about leadership.
An emergency brain surgery to remove a large brain tumor forced her into a reality she had never imagined. Although the surgery saved her life, recovery brought new challenges that continued long after the operation. Chronic daily migraines, additional radiation treatment after tumor regrowth, and the reality of living with an invisible disability transformed not only her health but also her understanding of resilience.
She no longer viewed strength as the ability to keep pushing regardless of the cost.
As she explains,
“Resilience isn’t about being fearless or pretending everything is okay. It’s about continuing to move forward while honoring your humanity.”
That lesson became even more significant because it unfolded while she was leading an essential nonprofit during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite unprecedented uncertainty, her organization continued serving its community, protected its workforce, never missed payroll, and secured critical funding that ensured its mission continued.
Yet some of her hardest lessons came after the crisis had passed. Difficult professional experiences challenged both her career and her trust in leadership. Rather than allowing those experiences to define her, she chose to learn from them.
She began placing greater value on healthy boundaries, psychological safety, authentic relationships, and environments built on mutual respect. Those experiences reshaped the leader she would become and eventually inspired an entirely new chapter of her career.
Building Organizations That Care for Their Leaders
The creation of Well Balanced CEO was not simply the launch of another business. It represented the culmination of everything Vasheti had experienced throughout her personal and professional life.
She understood that nonprofit leaders often carry extraordinary responsibilities. They are expected to solve complex problems, secure funding, inspire teams, satisfy boards, and respond to community needs while frequently neglecting their own well-being.
Her work challenges that expectation.
Rather than asking leaders to sacrifice themselves for their mission, she teaches them how financial sustainability, operational excellence, and personal well-being can exist together. Through executive coaching, fundraising strategy, leadership development, and speaking engagements, she helps leaders build organizations capable of creating lasting impact without exhausting the people who lead them.
She believes sustainable leadership is not a luxury but a responsibility. Healthy leaders make stronger decisions, retain talented teams, strengthen donor relationships, and create organizations capable of serving communities for generations.
Her mission extends beyond financial growth. She wants leaders to rediscover confidence, peace of mind, and permission to lead differently.
As she says,
“You don’t have to lose yourself to make a meaningful difference.”
Those words reflect not only her philosophy but also her lived experience.
A Different Vision of Success
Like many professionals, Vasheti once measured success through visible achievements. Budget growth, fundraising milestones, and organizational expansion served as proof that she was making a difference.
Life gradually shifted that definition.
Health challenges reminded her that achievement means little if it comes at the expense of physical and emotional well-being. She came to understand that success is not about enduring endless pressure but about creating a life that allows meaningful work to continue over the long-term.
Today she defines success by alignment. It means living according to her values while helping others do the same. It means protecting relationships, honoring personal limits, and building organizations where people can flourish rather than simply survive.
This perspective influences every leader she mentors. She encourages them to replace burnout with sustainability and constant sacrifice with thoughtful stewardship.
Looking Toward a More Sustainable Future
Vasheti’s vision reaches well beyond the leaders she works with today. She hopes to transform the broader conversation around nonprofit leadership by showing that compassion and sustainability are not competing priorities.
Through expanded coaching programs, leadership training, speaking engagements, and educational resources, she wants to equip thousands of nonprofit professionals with practical tools that strengthen both their organizations and their personal lives.
She also hopes to bring greater awareness to invisible disabilities and the realities many leaders quietly navigate behind the scenes. By sharing her own story openly, she encourages others to embrace vulnerability without seeing it as weakness.
More importantly, she wants future generations of nonprofit leaders to inherit a healthier model of leadership, one where purpose is supported by balance rather than sacrifice.
A Legacy Built on Humanity
The most enduring part of Vasheti Quiros’s story is not measured by fundraising totals, organizational growth, or professional recognition. Those accomplishments matter because of the people they ultimately serve, but they are not the heart of her legacy.
Her lasting contribution lies in changing the conversation about leadership itself.
She reminds leaders that caring for themselves does not diminish their commitment to others. Instead, it strengthens their ability to keep serving with wisdom, compassion, and integrity.
Through Well Balanced CEO, she continues helping nonprofit leaders discover that sustainable organizations begin with sustainable people. In doing so, she offers something many leaders rarely give themselves: permission to lead with both strength and humanity. That lesson may become the most meaningful impact of all.
