Behind every successful business is a person who bet on themselves when nobody else would. That's the story The Real Edits was built to tell.

Decha Brooks Leading with Purpose and People

Meet Decha

Decha Brooks is the Founder and CEO of Tri-Leader®, a leadership development company based in the Dallas Fort Worth area. After decades of leading teams across healthcare, retail, and professional sports, she now focuses on helping organizations develop confident leaders through a practical framework built on real world experience. Her work is grounded in service, resilience, and the belief that leadership is ultimately about helping people grow.

Building a Career Around People

For Decha Brooks, leadership was never simply about managing organizations or reaching executive positions. It was always about people. Long before she founded Tri-Leader®, she spent years working in executive leadership and human resources, where she discovered that every successful organization shared one important characteristic. Behind every thriving business stood leaders who knew how to bring out the best in others.

Her career carried her through several industries, from manufacturing, healthcare, and retail to professional sports. She served in executive positions including Chief Executive Officer  and Chief Human Resources Officer while helping organizations navigate periods of growth, operational change, and transformation. One of those experiences included leading in People Operations for the Dallas Cowboys, while another involved helping a healthcare organization scale beyond one hundred million dollars in revenue.

Although each organization looked different on the surface, the leadership challenges remained remarkably similar. Talented professionals were consistently promoted because of their technical abilities, yet many struggled once they became responsible for leading others. The problem was rarely a lack of intelligence or dedication. Most simply had never been taught how to lead.

That observation stayed with her throughout every stage of her career and quietly shaped the direction her future would take.

When Experience Became a Mission

Years spent working across industries gave Decha a unique perspective. Whether she was leading healthcare teams, supporting professional athletes, or guiding executives through organizational change, she kept seeing the same pattern repeat itself.

People entered leadership positions carrying expertise in their field but very little preparation for the human side of leadership.

Rather than accepting that reality as inevitable, she began asking a different question. What if leadership could be taught through a practical framework that people could immediately understand and apply?

That question eventually became the foundation of Tri-Leader®.

She explains,

“I wanted to give leaders a practical framework that helps them know when to be a Coach, Cheerleader, or Teammate so they can build stronger teams, healthier cultures, and better business results.”

Creating the company marked an important turning point. Instead of influencing one organization at a time, she could now help leaders across many industries. Her experience no longer belonged to a single executive role. It became a resource that organizations everywhere could use to develop healthier workplaces.

Rather than building another leadership theory, she focused on simplicity. The framework was designed for real conversations, real challenges, and real people facing everyday leadership decisions.

Choosing Resilience Over Bitterness

Behind Decha’s professional achievements is a much more personal story of perseverance.

She openly shares that discrimination shaped many chapters of her life, beginning at an early age and continuing into her professional career. Those experiences presented moments that could easily have created discouragement or resentment.

Instead, they strengthened her determination.

Rather than allowing prejudice to define her future, she chose to let her character, work ethic, and integrity become her strongest response. Every obstacle reinforced her belief that leadership is measured less by authority and more by how people are treated.

Those difficult experiences also deepened her empathy. Having personally experienced exclusion, she became committed to creating environments where others felt respected, supported, and given opportunities to succeed.

Her understanding of leadership became increasingly rooted in dignity rather than position.

She reflects,

“Success isn’t measured by the titles I’ve held or the awards I’ve received. It’s measured by the impact I leave behind.”

That perspective continues to shape every aspect of her work. Leadership, in her eyes, is not about recognition or influence for its own sake. It is about leaving people stronger, more confident, and better equipped than they were before.

Helping Leaders Build Better Workplaces

Today, Tri-Leader® represents the culmination of everything Decha has learned throughout her career.

Her work centers on helping organizations develop leaders who know how to build trust, communicate clearly, create accountability with respect, and strengthen workplace culture without sacrificing performance.

Instead of offering complicated theories, she focuses on practical leadership habits that can be implemented immediately. This practical approach has resonated with executives because it reflects situations leaders face every day rather than idealized management concepts.

For Decha, leadership development creates ripple effects that extend far beyond the office.

When managers become better leaders, employees experience healthier workplaces. Stronger workplace cultures improve organizational performance while also affecting families, communities, and everyone connected to those businesses.

This broader view explains why her work feels deeply personal. She does not measure success by company growth alone but by the people whose confidence, careers, and lives improve because someone learned how to lead well.

Her years leading organizations taught her that sustainable business success begins with healthy leadership, not the other way around.

Leading Through Faith and Service

Faith remains the foundation beneath every professional decision Decha makes.

She believes leadership is an opportunity to serve rather than to gain status. During seasons of uncertainty, prayer has provided clarity, while gratitude has helped her maintain perspective even when circumstances were difficult.

This outlook also shapes how she defines excellence. Doing her best is not simply about achieving strong business results but about honoring her values through integrity, humility, compassion, and courage.

She draws inspiration from Jesus Christ’s example of servant leadership, finding guidance in humility, wisdom, and love. Professionally, she also admires leaders who demonstrate that business success and meaningful purpose can exist together.

Her leadership philosophy reflects consistency rather than perfection. Challenges are inevitable, but character is revealed through the way people choose to respond.

That mindset has become central to both her personal life and the culture she encourages organizations to create.

Looking Beyond the Next Achievement

While Decha has already built an accomplished executive career, she believes her most meaningful work is still ahead.

Her vision is to make Tri-Leader® the leadership framework organizations turn to when they want practical, people centered leadership development that produces lasting change.

More importantly, she hopes the framework will influence future generations of leaders who understand that confidence and character belong together.

Her ambition extends beyond growing a business. She wants to change how organizations prepare leaders, ensuring that talented professionals receive the guidance they need before stepping into positions of responsibility.

If that happens, stronger leaders will build healthier teams, healthier organizations, and ultimately stronger communities.

A Legacy Measured by Lives Changed

Looking back, Decha Brooks does not define her career by executive titles, financial milestones, or industry recognition. Those achievements represent chapters of her journey, but they are not the destination.

Her greatest accomplishment is creating something that equips others to lead with greater wisdom, confidence, and compassion.

Throughout every stage of her career, one belief has remained constant. Organizations become stronger when people become stronger. By investing in leadership that values dignity, accountability, and service, she hopes to leave behind something far more lasting than professional success.

For Decha, the true measure of leadership is not found in personal accomplishments but in the lives that continue to grow because someone chose to lead with purpose.
