Anne Alvares: Healing the Past to Transform Parenting

Selfie Blue Top Post 2 Anne Alvares

Anne Alvares is a parent coach, school counsellor, and mother of two based in Richmond, British Columbia. She helps parents heal from their own childhood wounds, break generational patterns, and build emotionally healthy, connected relationships with their children.

In 2021, Anne Alvares faced a chapter of life she never imagined. A marriage had ended, financial pressures mounted, and the responsibility of raising two children alone fell squarely on her shoulders. For three years, she worked tirelessly across two jobs, driven by a simple, unshakable desire: to show her boys that resilience and hope could exist even in the darkest of times.

I wanted them to see a mother thriving, not just surviving,” she reflects. In the quiet moments between work, school runs, and the unrelenting hum of daily responsibilities, she prayed. She asked for guidance, wisdom, and comfort as she grieved. And in one of those prayers, she felt a clarity that would reshape her life:

Anne’s life shifted dramatically in 2021. Her marriage ended, leaving her to navigate single parenthood while managing the household and finances alone. The weight of responsibility was immense, yet it became a crucible for reflection and growth. During this time, she spent hours in prayer, asking for guidance, comfort, and clarity. This period planted the seeds for her future work in parenting transformation.

To maintain stability for her family, Anne worked two jobs for three years. The grind was exhausting, but every day carried a purpose: showing her children resilience and strength. Beyond just survival, she wanted them to witness their mother thriving despite adversity. This period also deepened her understanding of the challenges parents face how stress, grief, and responsibility can erode connection with children and shaped her approach to helping other parents heal and grow.

Anne’s own childhood was not without struggle. Experiences of abuse, control, and early responsibility left deep marks, yet also planted the seeds of understanding that would later define her work. Becoming a mother intensified her determination to break the cycles she had known. Her career as a teacher and school counsellor gave her tools, but it was her personal journey of healing that provided the vision: to guide parents in transforming their own pain so they could raise emotionally healthy children.

Over the past two years, that vision became the Masterful Parenting Program. Anne works with parents to uncover the echoes of their own childhood, recognize emotional triggers, and rebuild relationships on a foundation of trust, awareness, and love. Her approach is relational, compassionate, and practical.

Two years ago, Anne transformed her experiences, insights, and professional expertise into the Masterful Parenting Program. Drawing on decades of teaching, counselling, and personal healing, the program helps parents recognize their childhood wounds, navigate emotional triggers, and foster relational, connected bonds with their children. Anne guides parents step by step, offering practical tools alongside compassion, with the ultimate aim of breaking generational cycles and nurturing emotionally healthy children.

Launching a business alone is daunting, and Anne learned everything herself from course creation and content development to video editing and social media. Yet she faced each challenge with patience, breaking it into manageable steps to avoid overwhelm. What fuels her persistence is a sense of purpose larger than herself:

Her work is measured not in accolades but in the quiet transformations she witnesses: a parent discovering confidence, a household finding peace, a child flourishing because their parent has healed. It is these ripple effects that define her success.

Anne continues to expand her program and deepen its impact, revising course materials and preparing her upcoming book, Heal Your Childhood: A Guide to Reclaiming Your Worth, Voice, and Future. Each initiative is part of a larger vision to see parenting worldwide shift toward connection, understanding, and emotional health, generation by generation.

For Anne, the journey is as much about her own growth as it is about the families she serves. Her story is a reminder that even in the midst of loss and hardship, purpose can emerge. Through courage, faith, and dedication, she has turned her pain into a mission that touches lives far beyond her own home.
